1. Publisher and scope
Pixel & Quill Studio (“the publisher”) is the trade name of Styvens Wentz, an individual entrepreneur (EI). This policy applies to this website and to all the games published by Pixel & Quill Studio, present and future. Styvens Wentz EI is the data controller for the processing described below, except where a platform provider (for example Google for Google Play Games, Google Play Billing and AdMob) acts as an independent controller for its own services.
Each game does not necessarily use every service described here. The services actually used by a game, its minimum age and its in-game privacy settings are listed on that game's page, in the “Good to know” section (see the games).
2. What Pixel & Quill Studio does not do
- The games do not ask you to create an account with the publisher: Pixel & Quill Studio has no account system of its own and no server that receives your game data.
- Pixel & Quill Studio does not directly collect your real name, email address, precise location, contacts or photos.
- Pixel & Quill Studio does not sell your data.
3. This website
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and contains no forms. Your language choice is stored only in your browser (local storage) and is never sent to the publisher. The hosting provider GitHub may log technical connection data (including IP addresses) for security purposes, under its own privacy statement.
4. Data processed in the games
4.1 Local save (on your device)
Your progress, purchases unlocked, settings, any in-game name you choose, your age bracket (never your date of birth) and the version of the terms you accepted are stored only on your device, in an encrypted file. The publisher has no access to it. It is deleted when you uninstall the game or clear its data.
4.2 Platform game services (optional)
Some games offer optional sign-in to a platform game service such as Google Play Games (achievements, leaderboards, cloud saves). You can always play without signing in. If you sign in, the platform processes your player ID, gamer name, achievements, scores and, where applicable, a copy of your save, under its own rules (for Google: Google Privacy Policy).
4.3 In-app purchases
Purchases are made through the app store (for example Google Play Billing). The publisher never receives your payment details. The game only receives a confirmation of the purchase (product ID, purchase token) from the store in order to unlock the content.
4.4 Advertising and consent
Free games may show ads served by Google AdMob (for example banners, interstitials and optional rewarded ads). AdMob may process your device's advertising ID, your IP address, technical information (model, OS, language) and ad interaction data, in order to serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform – UMP, compliant with the IAB TCF framework) is shown at first launch:
- if you accept, personalised ads may be shown;
- if you decline, only non-personalised ads (based on context) are shown, with processing limited to permitted purposes (serving, measurement, fraud prevention).
Under 15. If the age given at first launch is under 15 (the age of digital consent in France), the game tells Google (UMP and AdMob “under the age of consent” setting): no consent form is shown and only non-personalised ads are served. Ads are also limited to content suitable for the game's audience.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from the game's settings (the exact menu is given on the game's page). Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (on Android: Settings → Google → Ads). More information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
4.5 Emails sent to the publisher
If you write to Pixel & Quill Studio, your email address and message are used only to reply to you.
5. Purposes and legal bases (GDPR)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Running the game, saving progress | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) |
| Unlocking and restoring purchases | Performance of a contract |
| Achievements, leaderboards, cloud saves (if you sign in) | Performance of a contract, at your request |
| Personalised ads | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and ePrivacy rules) |
| Non-personalised ads, security and fraud prevention | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in funding free games |
| Replying to your emails | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) |
6. Recipients and transfers
The only recipients are the platform and advertising services used by the game concerned, currently Google services (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC: Play Games, Play Billing, AdMob and UMP), as well as AdMob's advertising partners to the extent of your consent. Some data may be transferred outside the European Union (notably to the United States); Google safeguards these transfers with the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If a future game uses another provider, it will be listed on that game's page and in this policy.
7. Retention
- Local save: until you uninstall the game or clear its data.
- Platform, billing and advertising data: according to the retention periods of the provider concerned.
- Emails sent to the publisher: for as long as needed to handle your request, then 3 years at most.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, the right to withdraw your consent at any time, and the right to give instructions on what happens to your data after your death. As the publisher holds no game data about you on any server, most of these rights are exercised directly:
- by clearing the game's data or uninstalling it (local save);
- from the game's ad settings (ads);
- via your platform account, for example your Google account (game services, purchases, advertising ID).
For any question, email the publisher at contact@pixelandquillstudio.com; a reply is given within one month. If you believe your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France — www.cnil.fr) or with the data protection authority of your country.
9. Children
Each game states its minimum age on its page and in its store listing. Pixel & Quill Studio does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. When a game asks for your age at first launch, only the age bracket is kept on the device. If you believe a child has provided data, contact the publisher so it can be deleted.
10. Security
Local saves are encrypted. Communications with platform services are encrypted (HTTPS). The games request no sensitive permissions (location, contacts, camera, microphone) unless a game's page says otherwise and explains why.
11. Changes
Pixel & Quill Studio may update this policy, for example when a new game or feature is released. The date at the top of this page will be updated and, for significant changes, you will be informed in the games concerned and asked to accept the policy again.
